In a break from tradition in the club we intend running a 6 session formal training course to cover the essential techniques of kayaking which will form a good basis to develop your paddling further in any of the disciplines, such as Surf, touring (flat rivers / Lochs), White Water (Rivers), Sea, Polo, or other.
The course is aimed at anyone who wants to start from the basics and work progressively through skills and have the chance to practice them, and will be run at the pool sessions in Woodside Leasure Center on the 3 Fridays from 21st April until 5th of May and Pinkston “flat water” sessions on Tuesdays 25th April until the 9th of May (there will be some deliberate falling in outdoors as well as in the pool).
The cost of the course will be £110 (including membership until the end of the year – discount for existing members). The booking form should go live on the evening of Friday 24th March.
There will be a maximum of 6 places on the course (if there is more interest we will run a waiting list).
If feedback / interest is positive, we will run further courses later in the year.
This course involves kayaks that we sit in, and as such will not be relevent to those interested in Sit on tops.
Any questions please comment below (due to a bit of finger trouble any comments left on Sunday 19th March have been lost, so please repost) or the club Facebook page, or send an e-mail to rec@GlasgowKayakClub.com
